Updates

It has been over a week and a half since David went to Texas for temporary work helping his friend roof and paint a house. He's really lonely. He's staying in the house that he's working in and it's a pretty empty house. He's ready to come back. It's been very hard on Thomas because he's so attached to David. There haven't been any leads for him to follow so far. He needs a job very soon. I'm really tired of this.

Thomas was so pitiful last night. I had to spank him and he was all upset. We really don't spank the kids very often, but throwing things at his siblings was a no-no. So about 5 minutes later he's still crying and I said, "What is wrong with you now?" He said in a sad, sullen little expression, "You spank me."

drip, drip (That would be the sound of my heart melting.)

Life has been okay with no vehicle. Our friends left us with their car for the week. And other friends have taken me to run a few errands otherwise. David had driven our only vehicle to Texas. Today I have been straightening out our books and homeschool supplies. It seems as though there is always something to be done.

And, why suddenly is it 90 degrees after a beautiful week of 70 degree weather??? I was hoping we would get a repeat of last spring when we had the windows open through May. Sigh.

I guess I had better get back to work.

Another shower and diaper cake

Show us Your Life- Baby Showers!!

I did this post and the next one back in the spring. The second post is of my shower for Bailey. Thanks to Kelly over at Kelly's Korner for letting us see all the sweet baby showers!

Our pastor Michael and his wife Kim are heading to Taiwan this week to adopt their much awaited baby girl. The ladies from the church had a shower for her and Brittany and I made the diaper cake. Denise took Brittany out to get the supplies. They did a great job picking out little things to go on it with an Asian influence.

This is Kim. She also likes strawberries in addition to punch. :)

Playing some games.

The teen girls from their youth group.

Brittany loved the egg rolls.

Brooke's birthday

Yesterday was Brooke's sixth birthday. She had very extravagant plans for what she wanted but money and logistics determined otherwise. We did take cupcakes to our small group that meets on Friday nights. And she got some Little Pet shop goodies, "talkie walkies" (as Thomas says) and High School Musical so all was well and good.

Tyler hid some candy around the yard so the little kids could find it. As soon as everyone got out the door Brittany says, "There is a snake under the bush!" Now David and I had just said maybe two days ago how we have never in over seven years seen a snake in our yard. Apparently we spoke too soon. I told them it was just a little black garden snake and then it raced off past the garbage can. So, the kids went on searching for their candy. I guess snakes are no big deal if there is candy involved.

Where do you think Bailey gets her cheeks?

Monday Musings

I've gotten Bailey to smile two really teeny tiny smiles, once last Tuesday and once on Friday. She is being very stingy with them.

Today Tristan said, "Joey is my new BFF." BFF? He's only 4.

Brooke asked me the other day if God used super glue to stick us together. Today she asked me if we were having "chicken on the cob" for dinner. I never know what that girl is thinking.

Brittany treated herself and me to much overdue, much needed haircuts last week. I gave the little girls haircuts, too. I am always nervous that I'm going to butcher their hair, but I think they turned out nice.

Resurrection Day!

Happy Resurrection Sunday Everyone!

Don't look at the religion. Look at the Man. Look at the relationship. Look at Jesus.

Have a blessed day.

Who's ONE month old today?

I can't believe Bailey is one month old already. She has practically slept through the whole month. She has been a low maintenance baby. Very nice after high maintenance Thomas. (Although I wouldn't trade Thomas!)

Brittany did a little photo shoot with her.

She's still all cheeks and hair- probably gets that from her mommy.

This was a cute one, if the paint extender handle wasn't in between us! lol

It has been a long month in other ways. There are just too many delays with the job, so David is forced to find something else. We are incredibly disappointed and frustrated because we felt so certain this would work out. And he spent so much time pursuing it. But, for the opportunity it could have been for us, it would've been crazy not to pursue it. Now we aren't sure what's next. There aren't many jobs here, should we go somewhere else? We have a lot of tough decisions to make here very soon.

I finally got a washer and dryer yesterday. Yah! They aren't front loading, or Kenmore, or red, or new, but they work. Maybe I'll get the dream set someday. I always say that if you get everything you want then you'll have nothing to wish for. It's been quite amazing to not have wet hanging clothes everywhere for a change!
