A Week of Service..............

Brittany and Tyler just got back from a full week in the Smoky Mountains in Greenville, Tennessee with the youth group. They went up to help a family Bible camp clean up after tornado damage. And, let me tell you they worked! They cleared trees and brush like nobody's business. They called me Wednesday night and were just exhausted. But, I'm so glad they went. The youth took over last night's church service and told all about it.

They were such a good example of well mannered, respectful and helpful young people living for Christ that they impacted people everywhere they went. They even helped reaffirm that camp's youth leaders to stay and press on.

Brittany was part of a skit last night and she also gave a brief testimony of how the trip impacted her. It almost brought tears to my eyes. I was so proud of her.

Poor Tyler wasn't feeling well last night. He said he had a headache and felt like he was going to pass out before service was over. I took him out to the lobby and Cassandra got him some advil, and I got him something to eat. I think he was still so exhausted from the trip and hadn't eaten much. But this morning he felt so much better and was back to himself.

Saturday I was at the used curriculum sale all day. I had sorted through and priced over 20 boxes of curriculum that our church had left over from the christian school they used to run. A lot sold and we gave the money to the youth group. The rest we donated to the book benevolence that donates those who need it. They're putting together some stuff for Joplin.

I'm surprised I didn't pass out myself this weekend! Twenty boxes of books are heavy! And I'm telling you I moved that stuff around for days getting it ready. But every bit was worth it!

Saturday evening we went to a birthday party. Travis's little friend turned a year old. She is so cute.

But of course.

I didn't get one picture the entire weekend.

Empty Nest Syndrome

They've all grown up and flown away. I'm not sure if I was ready. Will they come back and visit?

Monday Musings...Pancake edition

When one is eating chocolate chip pancakes, how does one manage to get chocolate on the eyebrows?

I Saw a Little Birdie

A mother robin apparently thinks our back door light is a good place for a home for her little ones.

Tulsa has a ridiculous amount of birds. I have never seen so many birds in one area in my life. But, these little hatchlings are too cute. They stick their little heads up with their beaks open waiting for mama to bring a nice juicy something to eat. I only saw the mama bird once on the nest and I'm pretty sure she's a robin.

A Yard Sale and Mother's Day

The youth group for our church had a big yard sale on Saturday to raise money for the youth group to go on missions trips. They have a big trip coming up to Tennessee at the end of this month. They did a bake sale and car wash to go with it. They raised about $1800! I made about almost a hundred pretzels and two pound cakes.



Marsha, I hope you would be proud. (I didn't have any cute chocolate molds, so we just did sprinkles. However, they were dinosaur sprinkles.)

On Mother's Day (and for Fathers on Father's day) our church honors mother's with roses for those who are the oldest moms, youngest moms, moms who travelled the farthest that day, etc.

I keep winning the "Mom with the most children" catagory.

Who would've thought?

The kids spoiled me with some treasures from the yard sale and David took me to see Thor that afternoon, with ice cream at Braum's afterwards.

I had a blessed day.

I said, “What did he do?”

Thomas replied, “He has that thing and he won’t give it to me!”

Bailey has such a sense of humor.

She’ll say something like, “Mom! Mom! Brittany coming! Just Joking.”
or “Mom! Mom! I drop a toy. Just joking.

She is so smart to figure out how to do that- a real little jokester.

She also has quite a sassy side to her. When I was talking to my sister in law she came up and said, “Aunt Cassandra, quite talking!”

But she is also very obedient and remorseful when she does something wrong. I said, “Bailey Caroline! That is hateful!” and she said, “Sorry Aunt Cassandra.”
